Another Great Game for the Hawks

by Mark Stillson

This past weekend was yet another great one for the Bishop Hendricken varsity hockey team, as they defeated Barrington 4-1 last Friday night on the Eagles’ home ice, Lynch Arena.

The game got underway fast, with the Hawks spending most of the first period in the Eagles’ zone and putting a lot of shots on their goalie, Andrew Galbraith. The Hawks scored three goals in the first period: one on a power play, one off an extended series of shots, and the last off an odd-man rush. The goal scorers were Eddy Markowski  (from Matthew Creamer) and Andrew Fera, whose came just past the two-minute mark of the period.  The power play goal was Armstrong’s and came just four minutes into the period off a stolen puck when the Eagles were attempting to clear the neutral zone.  The Hawks’ final goal came when Waterman and Boulanger rushed down the ice and beat the two defensemen and the goalie, glove high.  The Hawks continued to keep strong offensive pressure on Barrington throughout the game and capped off their scoring with another power play goal, this one by Dakota Hersey.

Harrington netted the lone Barrington goal, assisted by Miller.

The Hawks dominated play throughout and had possession of the puck for the vast majority of the game. Proulx ended up with 12 saves on 13 shots, while Galbraith stopped 31 of 35.

The Hawks play next at Thayer, Saturday January 19, against Smithfield High School, followed by a game on Martin Luther King day in Burrillville at Levy Rink, located just behind their high school.
