Hawks Tame the Tigers, go to 3-0 in D-I Play

To this point, our varsity football squad's road to the Rhode Island schoolboy history books has been fairly smooth.  With the exception of the early-season road contest against a tough and talented South Kingstown squad - which, over the course of the game, ended in a fairly deceiving 36-14 victory for the Hawks - our guys have beaten Division II St. Ray's 34-6, East Providence 38-7, and now Tolman, 40-0.

While offensive line coach Pantaleo pointed out in this week's Hendricken Football Podcast that they expected some of Tolman's defensive fronts to cause some problems for the Hawks, seemingly none of those problems materialized.  The game was for all intents and purposes decided early, as four different Hawks reached the end zone in different ways.

All-State running back Remy Blue crossed the goal line three times, on runs of 66, 5, and 4 yards, in addition to quarterback Pat Gill's ten-yard strike to Mitchell Lucci, Shane Olson's 7-yard rushing TD, and Lee Moses's 57-yard, off-to-the-races punt return for another score.  It was an impressive showing for the Green-and-Gold.

Several of the scores can be seen here.

Next up for the Hawks is a home game, this coming Friday night, October 11th, against Cranston West.  Kickoff is at 7pm.  Coach Croft, his entire staff, and the entire team no doubt expect a tough one against the Falcons, as they gave archrival LaSalle all they could handle last night, eventually losing a tough one, 22-21 to the Rams.

And, barring any of the early-season technical issues - which have been driving this writer to distraction - The Network will broadcast the game, live, here on the site.
