As we all know, Hendricken's athletic tradition is evident each year out on the fields, the mats, the courts, the ice, and in the pools. It is not only a matter of what we accomplish in terms of the number of games and championships that we ultimately win, but it is also, more importantly, the type of young men that we are and the manner in which we represent our school. That tradition, however, is not exclusively limited to our present athletes, as there are still a significant number of our graduates who continue to excel as both professional athletes and as true models and spokesmen for being a decent person.
Will Blackmon is one of those people.
Of course, while we here at The Network and at school can (perhaps) forgive him for helping the New York Giants knock off the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI (after which he returned to many of his old stomping grounds in Rhode Island for a visit, including Bishop Hendricken), we are extremely happy to see that Will has worked his way back and has been given another shot to show what he can do in the NFL. Will was signed this week by the Seattle Seahawks, where his most likely role will be as their primary punt returner.
The Network and the entire Hendricken community wish Will the best of luck with the Seahawks, and we hope to see you high-steppin' into the end zone a lot in the coming NFL season.
